Hi Frisco, the dynamic duo of Henry Eastham and Felix Rashman, unleashes their debut single ‘Snowfall’ on November 13th, offering listeners a disorienting yet mesmerizing sonic experience. The track’s wobbly structure is artfully paired with hypnotic melodies reminiscent of MGMT and Flaming Lips, making it an intense and intoxicating journey, providing a taste of what’s to come from the talented pair.

Reflecting on “Snowfall”, the duo shares, “Snowfall was the first song that we ever started working on together, so it’s fitting that it’s the first thing that we put out. It almost became the testing ground for what Hi Frisco would sound like and what we have become as a band”.

The song originated from a period of flux and the end of an era, capturing the essence of feeling lost but hopeful. Lyrically, it reflects a state of uncertainty, gradually finding direction through experimentation. The track’s evolution is marked by a transition from live drums and bass to a distinctive Childish Gambino-style bass and crunchy drum loop.

Originally from Blackpool (Henry) and Yorkshire (Felix), the duo operates from their East London studio, Calmer Than You Are. Named after a greeting from the novel ‘Atlas Shrugged,’ Hi Frisco’s creative space is designed for immersive creativity, providing the perfect environment for their unique sound, balancing experimentation with intelligent pop composition.

Henry, with a background as a session musician and guitarist, has collaborated with artists like Say Lou Lou, Chlöe Howell, Sunset Sons, and Sparkadia. Felix, taking on a producer role, has worked as a studio engineer and produced tracks for notable British bands such as YAK, Crows, Babeheaven, and more.

The origins of Hi Frisco trace back to the end of 2017 when Henry, having written a plethora of demos, was unsure of his musical direction. The duo’s creative synergy ignited when Henry introduced his demos to Felix casually, leading to the birth of Hi Frisco. United by their love for bands like Love, The Beatles, Kinks, Metronomy, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, and Caribou, the duo embarked on their musical journey.

Currently mastering their upcoming live performance, Hi Frisco aims to expand their lineup, ensuring their live renditions match the expansiveness and brilliance of their studio recordings. With work underway on their debut album slated for 2020, Hi Frisco continues to blend experimentation and sharp songwriting in their hallowed studio space, promising an exciting musical venture ahead.
