Australian electronic musician Kendl, known for infusing electronic music with a distinctly human aesthetic and emotionally charged flow, continues to captivate listeners with his transcendent and ethereal style. Growing up in a musical household surrounded by instruments, Kendl found solace in freely playing and allowing his imagination to shape beautiful sounds—an escape that helped him navigate childhood anxiety and continues to influence his music today.

Working from his home studio in Melbourne, Kendl’s creative process involves utilizing a small collection of electronic and acoustic instruments, along with recording object and location sounds. This unique approach contributes to the tone and emotive nuances present in his work, emphasizing the emotional impact that music can convey. For Kendl, music is a profound form of inner communication with the soul, and he aspires to create music that instills a lasting, positive effect on listeners.

Following the September release of “Near – Far”, Kendl returns with his latest track, “Soak”, the second installment from a trio of singles slated for release this year. Submerging listeners into a meditative trance, the track unfolds with introverted melodies gracefully weaving in and out, propelled by a rhythmic drive that propels the energy forward.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind “Soak”, Kendl shares, “Being in lockdown for so long, I was having trouble finding inspiration and felt as though I had nothing to pull from. Over the past couple of years, I’ve had to dig deeper within myself, which has inspired the new music. ‘Soak’ is about finding moments of stillness and igniting a connection with your inner spirit”.

Kendl’s ability to produce music with emotional impact has been evident throughout his discography, evolving with each project. His obsession with emotive timbres and the skillful assembly of unique sound fragments that resonate within him continues to shape personal narratives for listeners. Blurring the boundaries between avant-garde and mainstream electronic music, Kendl uses his Yamaha upright piano, a range of organic and electronic instruments, and improvised recordings to carve his own path in Australia’s electronic music scene and beyond.
