Super Low, the indie pop sensation hailing from Memphis, introduces their latest track, “Runners Ups”, the first single from their upcoming self-titled album set to release on July 12. The song is characterized by bright, jangle-pop-inspired guitars, emotive melodies, and light, catchy vocals, culminating in a sing-along chorus. The track embodies the band’s intention to convey a message about communication and the pursuit of meaning while moving on from negativity.
Formerly known as China Gate, the Memphis-based indie pop band, led by singer/guitarist Tiger Adams and keyboardist Harry Neblett, has undergone a name change and is gearing up for the release of their self-titled album. The band, which gained momentum with a full-length release and an EP under their previous moniker, has become a local favorite in Memphis and beyond, thanks to their lively live performances, including shows with Dent May and Hoops, as well as a well-received 2017 SXSW showcase.
With the upcoming self-titled album, recorded mostly in January at Young Avenue Sound with Calvin Lauber (engineer for Julien Baker’s Turn Out The Lights), Super Low promises a sonic journey filled with subtle touches and surprising intrusions that unveil themselves with each listen. Vocalist/guitarist Tiger Adams, drummer John Lewandowski, and bassist Conner Booth are supported by a rotating cast of additional members during live shows.
As Super Low looks ahead to summer tours and the release of more new material, the band’s boundless energy, coupled with the anticipation surrounding their spectacular new album, positions them for broader stages and increased acclaim. While the future remains uncertain, one thing is clear – Super Low is poised to transcend its local status and capture the attention of a wider audience.
